Hurricane Irene made landfall in Connecticut on August 28, 2011. Pickerel Lake was not spared from damage. Most of Colchester and the lake was without power for over one week. The hurricane caused major tree damage that caused Lake View drive to become impassable. Luckily, no major property damage has occured. Residents pulled together with generators and chain saws to get through the storms fury and aftermath.
